Psalms 40:1-2
I waited patiently for Yahweh.
He turned to me, and heard my cry.
2 He brought me up also out of a horrible pit,
out of the miry clay.
He set my feet on a rock,
and gave me a firm place to stand.
In this passage, the Psalmist (traditionally believed to be King David) reflects on his personal experience of waiting patiently for Yahweh (the Hebrew word for God), who eventually responded to his cry for help. The Psalmist describes how God rescued him from a difficult situation, symbolized as a "horrible pit" and "miry clay". Today, this passage speaks to each one of us personally, that even in difficult times, God is always available to hear our cries for help and to provide us with the support and stability we need to overcome our challenges.
