Hebrews 12:14
Follow after peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no man will see the Lord.
Hebrews 12:14 is a verse from the New Testament of the Bible that encourages believers to strive for peace with others and to pursue holiness in order to see the Lord. Specifically, the verse states: "Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord."
The verse is part of a larger passage in Hebrews 12 that is encouraging the readers to persevere in their faith and to not grow weary in their trials. The author of Hebrews is reminding them that they are not alone in their struggles and that they have a great cloud of witnesses who have gone before them, including the heroes of faith mentioned in the Old Testament.
The idea of pursuing peace with others can also be found in other verses of the Bible, such as Romans 12:18, which states "If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone." And 1 Peter 3:11: "He must turn from evil and do good; he must seek peace and pursue it."
The concept of holiness is also a recurring theme in the Bible. In Leviticus 19:2, God commands the Israelites to be holy because He is holy. And in 1 Peter 1:15-16, the believers are encouraged to "Be holy in all you do, just as God who called you is holy."
In summary, Hebrews 12:14 is encouraging the readers to strive for peace with others and to pursue holiness in order to see the Lord. This message is consistent with other teachings throughout the Bible which emphasize the importance of living a peaceful and holy life.
